In the b…[Read more]

I believe that the purpose of language is for people to communicate with one another. This communication takes place on many different levels (relaxed to formal), places (home, with friends, at the work place, in […]

I think that from the very first scene, the male gaze is present, and it is not subtle at all. The opening scene is the funeral and Hochleitner expressing his condolences to Rachel. Then, before we even meet Book, the camera follows Hochleitner around. That made me believe he was going to try and make a move for Rachel, and he was doing so before…[Read more]

I am so grateful that I have received some guidelines and learned some rules about writing in the first person. I’ve always been told that using “I” in essays is a taboo of sorts, and I will be honest, when I was […]

Andy Clark writes that we are a group of “Natural Born Cyborgs,” and I think this is a fine assertion. Technology, especially technology used for social purposes has become a working part of a great majority of […]

I agree with you, Megan, love can certainly be blinding and cause people to do many things that they wouldn’t otherwise do. While the love story is what sticks out the most and is most important, it is important to see the ending in another light as well. Allowing Ilsa to go with Lazlo can be seen as a empathetic and patriotic in some senses.…[Read more]

Do not fret, Katie, you are not alone. I felt like I got punched in the gut when I left the first class. I read a lot, and I when I write, it feels second nature, but I can not sit and pick apart every detail of a […]
