    We feel flooded with information and anxious about its totalizing power. Despite the toxicity of some social media platforms, many of us continue to use them because of a fear of missing out. Is our feeling unique to this moment in the digital age, or have previous generations felt the same about mechanisms like telegraph, telephone, or even the printing press? Is this resistance typical of all such inventions?
