Music in the Ice
What happens if you convert subsonic sound waves — used by scientists to test the viability of an ice shelf — into sounds within the range of human hearing? Can you make music from those sounds? Will the music carry a message from the ice to us?
This fall, music educator and SUNY Geneseo faculty member Glenn McClure will be traveling to Antarctica to find out. Follow him and the students who will work with him as they listen for the music in the ice.
